Dear Fellow Bay Lover,
It takes one to know one! Yes, a cliché, but a crab house captain who started as a crabber knows what makes a perfect Maryland Crab Feast!
Captain Jim, founder of Chesapeake Crab Connection began his crab days as a waterman along the shore of Annapolis and Kent Island. Whitehall Bay and the Severn River and surrounding waterways marked his prime spots for sinking pots and setting lines. Passion drove his days starting at 4:30 am each morning. Of course, the boat’s supplies and baiting began well before this time. After all, said and done, the 38-foot boat’s motors churned through the early morning tides. Speaking of currents, he mapped the route according to a pot schedule and crab movement. The custom crab boat, made of oak and larch proudly motored with other Bay crabbers who shared the same passion in catching the BEST Maryland Crabs for local Maryland restaurants. Now, 3 decades later, Captain Jim and his fleet of boats and crab houses supply freshly caught blue crabs all across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland. Some die-hards from Baltimore make the trip bypassing other crab houses. They know Chesapeake Crab Connection carries true crab sizes! Small (5"-5.5"), Medium [5.5"-6"), Large (6"-6.5"), X-Large (6.5"-7"), and Supers (7" plus). The personal touch remains as each pot pulled keeps the crab feast in mind!
